Previously, we’ve covered the various other types of racking that can better suit your inventory, increase space, and speed up workflow in your warehouse, garage or workshop.
Racking your cable or packaging stretch wrap drums vertically may be another method you’ve considered. After all, it creates more space, and removes clutter. So let’s start by getting those cumbersome drums up off of the floor, and giving you better access to your products.
But not all cable racks will do the same job. It’s why we offer two types of cable rack: front mount, and centre mount.
A front mount cable rack is suitable for lighter loads of up to 500kg, with a maximum height of 4267mm. Whereas the centre mount cable rack can store a load of up to 1800kg, and go up to a height of 7315mm. So it really depends on what you need, and how much you’ll be storing.
When it comes to building your desired cable rack setup, you can make all levels suitable for storing the drum or spindle. Or, you can mix and match with plasterboard, mesh decks or galvanised steel panels. We also have a centre mount cable kit that suits our 600mm deep longspan shelving for light loads up to 200kgs.
However, there’s a few design guidelines that need to be met when customising your cable rack:
LONGSPAN CENTER MOUNT CABLE RACK:
- 2000x600mm frame must have 2 beam levels minimum to complete the structure
- 2400x600mm frame must have 3 beam levels minimum to complete the structure
- Maximum 32mm OD spindle (pipe)
- Heavy duty footplate must be used
- 2pc of M8x75mm anchors required per footplate
- Bottom beam positioned no higher than 500mm from the ground
FRONT MOUNT CABLE RACK:

CENTRE MOUNT CABLE RACK:

With so many configurations of cable rack available, before we can give you a quote, we need to understand certain specifications of your fitout – like drum width and diameter, hole size, weight, racking height, number of levels, and more.
